What is EDNA?

EDNA has devised a novel approach of media-based intervention for young radicalized people who are susceptible to violent extremism, hate crime, and terrorist recruitment. Currently available media products – as educational films, video testimonials, pro-democratic social media campaign materials – have had little or adverse effect on this particularly endangered and dangerous kind of persons. Yet, former perpetrators, their family, friends, the victims, practitioner experts, respected voices from the community – all these people, if asked in appropriate ways, can share important narratives about their experiences and insights. These narratives are not brief emotional media statements but more in-depth personal accounts. As such they may be all the more useful in helping people to disengage from life styles of hatred and violence. In other words, the narratives have a rehabilitative and deradicalising effect.
